Khaled, thank you for this. I have been so much mourning among progressives over the “axis of resistance”, and yours is a more reasoned analysis. It’s clear now that the axis of resistance is the Iranian regime fighting off American and Israeli aggression, down to the last Arab (Iraqi, Syrian, Lebanese). We have to build our countries if we are going to be liberated from the Zionist yoke, and Iran’s reign of destruction undermines all of that. We have our agency and we have to reclaim it from both our enemies and “allies”.
T.E Lawrence was betrayed by the British Government of his day which meant that he had unwittingly betrayed the Arab peoples he had encouraged to fight against the tottering old regime. He felt this deeply and he never got over it. Looks like betrayal of some sort is true game now. But as I'm not a political analyst I can't pinpoint it.
